This week we are opening up “shop” for the kids to redeem their tokens for prizes and games. Everyone can shop and choose prizes which will then be placed in bags, with their names, to be taken home after Shabbos.
On Shabbos, one is not allowed to acquire things, so for this halachic reason, prizes cannot be taken home on Shabbos. If the parents cannot pick up the prizes at a time when the shul is open for regular davening, you can contact Yona Posner at 847 677 1770 x305 to arrange another time.
First Ever Skokie Chabad Men’s Club Breakfast Event! |
Join us & be part of our first ever Men’s Club breakfast, this Sunday, January 13th. All men are welcome. We will start off with Shacharis at 8:00 a.m. then go into a homemade breakfast, and top it off with some learning. At 9:00 a.m Rabbi Posner will discuss “Corporations in Halacha.” Amongst the issues to be covered: May we own shares in a corporation that owns Chometz on Pesach or does business on Shabbos? May we borrow to or lend from a corporation on interest? How may ongoing changes to the laws governing corporation be actually changing the relationship of shareholders to the corporation, and how might that change the Halachic status of owning shares in a corporation?
You won’t want to miss this event; come for the Torah, but plan on enjoying the food!

Farbrengen for Men Sunday Evening |
This Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m. there will be Farbrengen with Rabbi Reuven Matasuf, Shliach in Paris, France. He is coming to town as the guest speaker for the Baba Sali dinner on Monday and has graciously agreed to farbreng the evening before.

The Hilula dinner in honor of the Baba Sali, Rabbi Yisrael Abichatzeira zt”l, this Monday, January 14, 2013 is sold out. Everyone is welcome to drop in for a l’chaim and to light a candle. If you’d like to be on the waiting list, in case of cancellations, please make sure to enter your info here: www.skokiechabad.org/2078227. The waitlist will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Maariv on Monday evening will take place downstairs, at 7:15 p.m., instead of the usual time. Shacharis Monday morning will also be downstairs, so upstairs can be prepared for the dinner.

Shalom Menora will answer these questions and more, based on his 30 years of experience in business both in Israel and the U.S. Shalom, who originally hails from Chicago, currently lives in Israel, where he runs his real estate and hi-tech investment company. He is on the board of the Jewish Business Ethics Center in Jerusalem.

Living With Integrity |
Register now for the upcoming course from the Jewish Learning Institute. Living with Integrity - Navigating Everyday Ethical Dilemmas begins in a few short weeks.
Are you obliged to keep all commitments? What are the responsibilities of the sandwich generation? Are the ungracious deserving of our charity? How far should we go to give the benefit of the doubt? A discussion on personal ethics and the Jewish view on laws that test the limits of our integrity.
This course meets for 6 Thursdays beginning January 31 - March 14, at 10:30 AM or 8:00 PM, or for 6 Sundays beginning February 3- March 17, at 10:30 AM.
This course is eligible for CLE credits and ETHICS credits. Fee $100.00 - tuition includes textbook. Multiple Signups Special: 10% off with Minimum 2 signups.

Jewish Youth House Update |
Jewish Youth Clubs are back
The second session of the Jewish Youth Club. begins this week! Join us as we enjoy creative activities combined with meaningful discussion, for a well-rounded, satisfying experience.
The girls will be meeting on Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:00 pm; boys on Thursdays 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Jewish Youth Clubs meet at the Mooz.
CTEEN Shabbaton in NYC
The National CTeen Shabbaton will take place in New York over Shabbat, February 8-10. Teens from Skokie join others from all over the country, for the greatest “high school reunion” experience!
Rabbi Chaim and Rochel Telsner are taking a great group of teens from the Jewish Youth House to the CTeen Shabbaton. Registration for this year is still in full swing! To join the group or for more info, contact Rabbi Chaim.
Girls Kiddush
The Girls Kiddush will take place on Shabbos after davening, at the Mooz. Girls 6 grade and up are invited.
