Shalom Menora will answer these questions and more, based on his 30 years of experience in business both in Israel and the U.S. Shalom, who originally hails from Chicago, currently lives in Israel, where he runs his real estate and hi-tech investment company. He is on the board of the Jewish Business Ethics Center in Jerusalem.

Living With Integrity

Register now for the upcoming course from the Jewish Learning Institute.

Living with Integrity - Navigating Everyday Ethical Dilemmas begins in a few short weeks.

Are you obliged to keep all commitments? What are the responsibilities of the sandwich generation? Are the ungracious deserving of our charity? How far should we go to give the benefit of the doubt? Every class is a discussion on personal ethics and the Jewish view on laws that test the limits of our integrity.

This course meets for 6 Thursdays beginning January 31 - March 14, at 10:30 AM or 8:00 PM, or for 6 Sundays beginning February 3- March 17, at 10:30 AM.

This course is eligible for CLE credits and ETHICS credits. Fee $100.00 - tuition includes textbook. Multiple Signups Special: 10% off with Minimum 2 signups.

Full or partial scholarships may be available via the Dr. Reading Dallal JLI Scholarship Fund.

Report On Men’s Breakfast Event

The inaugural men’s breakfast and learning took place this past week. Attendees were treated to an abundant repast including pancakes and omelet prepared by short-order chefs Brian Alexander and Hiam Naiditch. Many of those who partook of the breakfast stayed on for Rabbi Posners presentation on “Corporations in Halacha.” He discussed many instances where Halacha needs to determine ownership and how the Halachic definition may vary from the legal definition. He also showed how the evolution of the legal view of corporations and shareholders can affect the Halachic status.

The Hilula dinner in honor of the Baba Sali, was sold out. Everyone enjoyed the informative and inspirational speeches, the exquisite dinner, and Isaac Bitton’s incredible performance.

Jewish Youth House Update

CTEEN Shabbaton in NYC
The National CTeen Shabbaton will take place in New York over Shabbat, February 8-10. Teens from Skokie join others from all over the country, for the greatest “high school reunion” experience!
Rabbi Chaim and Rochel Telsner are taking a great group of teens from the Jewish Youth House to the CTeen Shabbaton. Registration for this year is still available! To join the group or for more info, contact Rabbi Chaim.

Jewish Youth Club
JYC's second session is off to great start! Both the boys club and the girls club had a great time, great food and lots of fun.
The boys club will be meeting this Thursday 5:00 - 6:00 pm at the Mooz.

New Schedule for Girls Club
the Girls Club will now meet bi-weekly.This week is an off week and there will be no Girls club this week.

Girls Kiddush
The Girls Kiddush will take place on Shabbos after davening, at the Mooz. Girls 6 grade and up are invited.

Summer Camp Registration is Open for kids 1½ - 6

Monday, the 10th of Shevat, is the Yahrtzeit of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (1880-1950). It is also the day, one year later, that his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson formally assumed leadership. For more information you can read here or here or here. Many Chasidim want to be called for an Aliyah on this Shabbos in keeping with the Rebbe’s directive. If you would like an Aliyah, and have not yet notified us, please do so ASAP via email to [email protected], so we can make sure that everyone is accommodated.
