No Kiddush or Shalosh Seudos This Week |
We have cleaned the Shul for Pesach. In light of this, there will be no Kiddush this week. The Shul has been declared a Chametz-free zone! Please do not bring any Chametz into the Shul building, including snacks for your children.
Preparing for Pesach |
· Thank you for everyone who cleaned out their tallis bags! If you haven’t done so yet, please do so.
· There will be no food being served at Shalosh Seudos this week.
· Sale of Chametz forms must be received by Sunday afternoon to be sure they will be included in the sale of Chametz.. You can sell your Chametz here:
· Bring your Chametz for an open house Chametz burning on Monday March 25, from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. Bring your Chametz packets, and we will take care of all of the practical stuff. Learn more about the custom of burning the Chametz here. .
· Please visit our Pesach Megasite on our website for all your Pesach needs. You can sell your Chametz, get Seder information and davening times, view how-to guides, and more!
· There is an actual need that you can address in our own community: There are families in our community who are struggling financially with their daily needs. Many of these families simply do not have enough money for the additional expenses of Pesach. Give your contribution to Rabbi Posner to forward to a needy family or donate here.
Matzah Pickup |
If you have not yet done so, please be sure to pick up your Matzah by Sunday morning. Sunday evening we will all be busy with Bedikas Chametz and it would be inconvenient to leave it for then.
Monday Night – First Yom Tov Davening Alert |
Mincha/Maariv Yom Tov davening will be on the lower level for the first night of Pesach (Monday). This is due to the large turnout for the seders!
Moshiach Seudah |
Redemption is the theme of Pesach, when we celebrate our liberation from Egypt. On the final day of Pesach, the holiday of freedom, the Baal Shem Tov instituted the custom of celebrating a "Moshiach Seudah", a lively and kabalistic experience focused on the Era of Moshiach.
Men, Women, Teens: join us on the afternoon of April 2, 2013, the last day of Pesach, as we take spiritual leave of Pesach with our eyes wide open.

Model Matzah Bakery
On Sunday we were so busy baking matzahs! We started off the day with Skokie Chabad Hebrew School in the matzah bakery. Later in the day, we hosted a group from the Yachad program, and then baked another round to finish the day with a great group of our children from Skokie Chabad.
A great time was had by all. Thank you to Sammy Hunt, Aryeh Richter and Yankel Raices for helping out.

Timely Reminders |
We do not say Tachnun during the month of Nissan. We say the “Nasi” for each day (Annotated Siddur, p. 391-397) after Shacharis through Sunday.
This Shabbos is known as Shabbos Hagadol.
It is customary to recite a portion of the Hagadah after Mincha on Shabbos Hagadol (Annotated Siddur , p. 398-405 ).
Sunday, 13th of Nissan, marks the Yahrzeit of the 3rd Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Menachem Mendel, known as the Tzemach Tzedek(5549/1789-5626/1866). To read more about the Tzemach Tzedek, click here.
Sunday night is the search for Chametz, to begin at 7:41 p.m.
Monday, Chametz can be eaten until 10:48 a.m. and must be burned by 11:46 a.m.
Pesach begins Monday evening. The earliest that one may begin the first Seder is to make Kiddush at 7:37 p.m. Earliest time to begin preparing for the second Seder is 7:52 p.m.
We begin saying "Morid Hatal" with Musaf on Tuesday, the first day of Pesach.
We begin to count Sefira (Annotated Siddur p. 136) Tuesday evening.
