Early Friday Shabbat Minyan

The seasons have changed, snow flurries notwithstanding, and sunset is getting later. This means that we will begin the early Friday Shabbat minyan this week, April 5. The early minyan for this week is at 5:45 pm. This is in addition to the regularly scheduled minyan. To express interest or for more information, please contact Rabbi Yochanan.

New and old Classes, and a New Location

The Shabbat afternoon class for women is back! We begin this Shabbat, April 6. The class will meets this week in the Superstein home, 4261 Lee, at 4:30 p.m., and will be led by Mrs. Rivkie Raices.

The ongoing Tuesday afternoon class on davening taught by Mrs. Raices is relocating to the Shul. All women are invited to join each week at 2:30 p.m.

Resetting the Misheberach List

The standing Misheberach list has become very out of date with many names on it which should have been removed long ago, and names which the Gabbaim cannot identify. Please resubmit your names for Misheberach via our website www.SkokieChabad.org/misheberach or by speaking to our Gabbai, Zvi Weiss. He would be happy to help you review the list on the Bima to make sure it is up to date. Names on the list which are not claimed will be removed.

The Great Jewish Family Festival

The Great Jewish Family Festival is back! This year Lag B’Omer occurs on April 28. Join us and the entire Chicagoland Jewish community at Old Orchard Shopping Center, for an afternoon and evening of excitement and fun.

Jewish Youth House Update

JLI TEENS – WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?
JLI Teens is back! We will meet this Monday to discuss some riveting topics, including "Free choice, or is everything predestined?," "Is democracy a Jewish concept?," “What is ultimate freedom?," and more. JLI Teens meets on Monday nights, 7:00 PM at the Mooz. Dinner is served.

Jewish Youth Clubs
The Jewish Youth Clubs are back!
The girls will be meeting Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the Mooz.
The boys will meet Thursday 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the Mooz.

There will be a girls Kiddush this Shabbos in the Mooz, after davening.

Timely Reminders

This Shabbos marks Eleven Days for Sefiras Ha’Omer.

We do not say Tachnun during the remainder of the month of Nissan.

The Molad of Chodesh Iyar will be Wednesday, 7:05 p.m. and 15 Chalakim

The beginning of the new Hebrew month of Iyar will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday, the 2nd of Iyar is the birthday of the fourth Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Maharash (5594/1834-5643/1882) 

Among the restrictions of the Sefiras Ha'Omer period: We do not hold weddings, take haircuts, eat new fruit requiring Shehecheyanu (except Shabbos) and avoid music and buying new clothes.

Shabbat L’Yisraelim

Shabbat L'Yisraelim, provided by Rabbi Menachem Slavaticki and the Chabad Israeli Center, will meet this Shabbat at 10:00 a.m. on the lower level for Shacharit. The Tefila is followed by a complete Seudat Shabbat.
