Graduates Kiddush

The date for this year’s “Graduates’ Kiddush” will take place next week, Parshas Korach (June 8).

What is it all about? The Graduates’ Kiddush is sponsored by the families of graduates to honor the graduates. At kiddush, each graduate is called by name and comes up to receive a specially selected gift from their friends at Skokie Chabad. It is a very special and exciting moment.

If you have someone in your family graduating pre-preschool, preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, junior high or high school, Cheder, Mesivta, Seminary, college, university, graduate school, a school of fish, or a school of thought, and would like to sponsor or participate in sponsoring the Graduates Kiddush, please let us know. Actually, we need to know immediately, so we can secure an appropriate gift for each graduate.

Participants thus far include: Jesse Hunt (8th Grade), Meir Lapson (High School), Eliezer Michah Superstein (Mesivta), Meira Tziona Superstein (8th Grade).

Aliyah Alert

It is customary to receive an Aliyah on the Shabbos before one observes a Yahrzeit of a parent. The Rebbe encouraged Chassidim to receive an Aliyah on the Shabbos before the Yahrzeit of the previous Rebbe, as part of their observance of the day.

Many may want to receive an Aliyah next Shabbos, the Shabbos before Gimel Tamuz. If you would like an Aliyah next Shabbos, please notify the Gabbai well in advance so that proper arrangements can be made.
