Sukkos on Wheels

Our Sukkahs have been rolling around town making stops at all sorts of places! Some of the stops included Niles North, local businesses, some homes of elderly and housebound people, and the campus of NEIU (Northeastern). At each stop, people hopped aboard for a quick bite of something to eat with a bracha, and to have a chance to shake lulav too.

Here’s our photo album of some Sukkos stuff:

Here’s some press coverage about our unique sukkahs:

“Farewell to the Sukah” Farbrengen

The “Farewell to the Sukah” Farbrengen on Thursday, 9/26, at 5:30 pm, is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Bogachkov. The purpose of this farbrengen is to say “Farewell” to the Sukah by eating in the Sukah on last time before this Mitzvah is done for the year (according to our custom to eat in the Sukah on Shmini Atzeres, as well.). Men, please join us for some really good food and lively inspiration to get us geared up for Simchas Torah and Hakafos.

Don’t Miss Breakfast

There is a breakfast-style Kiddush on Simchas Torah morning (Friday) at 10 am, before Hakafos, replete with scrambled eggs, waffles, coffee, breakfast cereals etc. This will be a great way to reinvigorate yourself for another day of celebration. This limited-edition kiddush will be over at 10:30 am!

Simchas Torah Seudah

Thank you to all the people who reserved for the Simchas Torah Seudah on 9/27. The food is gonna be great and the atmosphere even better. After a long week of celebrating Sukkot with delicious home-cooked foods, this will be great!

This meal was founded and organized for many years by Manny Scheer, a”h.

Introduction to Chassidus –The Fourth Course Begins Next Week

The first three Chassidus courses with Rabbi Moshe Miller at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie were very enjoyable learning experiences for all of the participants. You are invited to attend the next course in this series.

This course will focus on the overall topic of “The Purpose of Creation”.

We will trace the origin of the subject to a posuk in Torah; elaborate its meaning, logic and how it is connected with other concepts in Torah and Chassidus; discuss different understandings of the concept by different authorities.

Basic familiarity with Hebrew reading and translating required. This course is ideal for individuals who have some experience with learning Chassidus, whether it is simply attending shiurim at a Shul or a Chabad House, or even yeshiva graduates. Men and women are welcome.

This six week Chassidus course with Rabbi Moshe Miller will begin on next Sunday, October 6, 2013, and will meet on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie, 4059 Dempster Street.

Tuition for this course is $60. Study materials are included, and there will be homework assignments and mini tests so you can monitor your progress and your retention of the material.

Hashovas Aveidah

A yellow and blue windbreaker/rain coat was taken by mistake from the shul coatroom on the first days of Yom Tov. If you have a similar jacket, please check it and make sure you have the right one and did not mix it up with someone else's at shul. If you did, your coat is waiting for you in Shul. If you return it please let us know so we can notify the owner.

Kiddush Sponsors

The kiddush on Shabbat Bereishit is customarily sponsored by the Chasnei Torah. We wait curiuosly to find out who they will be!
