Swimming

Please provide your child with: a bathing suit, towel, and water shoes or splash sandals.

Expanding Horizons campers need water shoes that can be worn on the bus to Oakton Water Playground, in the water, and then on the bus back to camp. Flip flops or Crocs cannot be worn to the pool, as they do not stay on when the children go in the water. Please label your child’s backpack and all swim things. Please provide swim things and a backpack that can be easily recognized by your child. Avoid plain white or blue towels that your child may find difficult to distinguish from others. Children who must be well covered while swimming may wear swim tops such as rash guard swim shirts but not cotton tee shirts.

Bright Beginnings campers need swim gear at camp daily for water play at camp.

Expanding Horizons campers go to Oakton Water Playground for private swim time. In addition, Expanding Horizons campers sometimes have water play at camp on days that are not shown as swim days on the calendar. You will be notified of water play days in advance so that your child can come prepared with swim gear.

Afternoon Enrichment campers often have water play at camp. You will be notified of Afternoon Enrichment water play days in advance so that your child can come prepared with swim gear. When bringing swim gear to camp for use in the afternoon, please deposit it into your child’s Afternoon Enrichment cubby when bringing him to camp in the morning.

Sun Safety

Please put waterproof sunscreen on your child before sending him to camp in the morning. For children attending the Afternoon Enrichment Program, we will reapply sunscreen before water activities.
