It has been fifty years since the Six Day War of 1967. The war was a major turning point for Israel: military, politically, economically, socially, and it also lifted the morale of Jews around the world.

Much changed during those six days, and yet, much has stayed the same for the fifty years since.
Please join Rabbi Yochanan Posner for a special course from the Jewish Learning Institute, to explore the Torah’s wisdom on fascinating and difficult questions from the 1967 war that are relevant today, such as:
  • Jewish Homeland: Why do we care so much about a specific land?
  • Anti-Israel Sentiment: Why does Israel perpetually raise the ire of the entire world?
  • Preemptive Strikes: What are the ethics of preemptive strikes and collateral damage?
  • Civilian Casualties: How should Israel protect itself against an enemy that hides behind human shields?
  • Captured Territories: What should Israel do with territories captured during the Six-Day War?
  • Land for Peace: What lies at the heart of the land-for-peace debate?
This not a history course, nor is it a course on military strategy. This course will explain the big ideas which stand behind the big events of the Six Day War, and will inform your understanding of the issues we face today.

We look forward to greeting you and enjoying Survival of a Nation together with you.
