Come to the Finkel and Fedida homes!

This Friday night, Shabbos Chanukah, Tiffany Fedida is hosting a farbrengen for women at her home, 8653 Keeler, and all women are invited. At the same time, Phil Finkel is hosting a farbrengen for men across the street, at the Finkel home, 8636 Keeler.

Please come and enjoy time with friends on a lovely Chanukah Shabbos! We will see you there with brightness and cheer! Friday night, December 14, 2012, at 8:00 p.m.

Spreading the Chanukah Light

We thank Moshe Melton for providing aluminum for our giant outdoor Menorahs.

We thank Mordechai Gutkovsky and Mike Fisher for lighting the Menorahs around town each night.

Of Locks and Keys and Security – 2nd Notice

Over the past few months you may have noticed work being done on our building. We have upgraded and added security systems to protect all of us. As part of this process we have rekeyed the exterior locks and the old key no longer works to those locks. In the coming week, we will change the combination of the alley door.

If you find that your key no longer works or that the combination you enter does not unlock the door, do not use force on the lock. The lock is not broken; it is just that you don’t have a current key or combination.

If you need to be able to gain access to the building at times when it is not open to the public, please speak to Rabbi Yosef Posner about getting a new key. If your usual means of entry is via the combination lock, the new combination is ●,●,●,●. If your computer does not have the security clearance to read that encrypted combination, please speak to Rabbi Yosef Posner.

Breakfast and Learning for Men

There will be a breakfast for men at Shul on January 13, 2013, 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. Rabbi Posner will discuss some interesting Halacha of Business case studies. We thank Hiam Naiditch for being the driving force behind this event, and his committee of Yehuda Leib Burgeman, Evan Loiterman, Rob Phillips, Dr. Berel Polisky, Steve Rosenberg.

Kiddush Committee News

Thank you to the salad committee of Friedman & Scheer for making our Kiddush salads. This week’s salads are: scrumptious coleslaw, mouthwatering egg salad with pickle relish, enjoyable sweet corn salad with grapes, and everyone's favorite, Israeli salad with olives and pickles. Timely Reminders

This Friday is the beginning of the Hebrew month of Teves.

Chanukah continues through Sunday. Friday, we light the Chanuka Menorah before the Shabbos candles. The Chanukah candles have to burn for at least a half hour after dark, which is about an hour and a half in total. Ordinary Chanukah candles will not burn that long. Suggestion: use oil, Shabbos candles, or tea lights. After Shabbos, light the Chanukah candles after Havdalah. Tuesday, the Fifth of Teves, is celebrated by Chasidim as the day on which the federal courts recognized ownership of the Previous Rebbe's library by Agudas Chasidei Chabad and by extension rejected challenges to the authenticity of the Rebbe's leadership. The Rebbe declared that this day is an auspicious time especially to add to one's personal library of Torah books. To read more about Hey Teves, click here.

Shabbat L’Yisraelim
