Save the date! On Sunday, August 11, we will celebrate the Siyum of the new Torah that is being donated to our shul, and dedicated by Marge Fettman in honor of her husband, her parents, and her husband’s parents. We look forward to announcing more details about this very soon.
Jewish Women’s Book Club this Wednesday |
The Jewish Women’s Book Club will be meeting this Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the home of Harriet Lavenda, 8338 Karlov, at 8:00 pm. The discussion will focus on the book Forever My Jerusalem, by Puah Shteiner.
This is a fascinating, first-hand account of the fall and evacuation of the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem, as witnessed through the eyes of a young girl living there in 1948, complete with maps and photos.

Setting Time to Study Torah |
We are pleased to be part of a local Skokie initiative called KIT – Kviat Ittim l’Torah. An important part of the Mitzvah of Torah Study, is to designate time to study on a regular basis, preferably every day and every night. Separate from the actual amount of time spent, there is great importance to the commitment to regular Torah study, even if for a short time. To encourage everyone to have time set aside for Torah study, this initiative will help motivate us all. People can sign up for commitments to study 1-3 hours per week, 3-5 hours, 5-10 hours, etc. Any Torah subject counts, and study individually, with a partner, as part of a group or by attending a class counts. To encourage others to join, lists of participants will be posted in the local shuls. Commitments are understood to be for a year. You can sign up by replying to this email or by emailing[email protected]. For any questions feel free to ask Rabbi Posner.
