Rabbi Binyamin Scheiman is director of the HINDA Institute/Jewish Prisoners Assistance Foundation and an official chaplain for the Cook County Department of Corrections and the Illinois State Department of Corrections. For the past thirty years, he has crisscrossed the state, visiting prisoners, counseling families, and influencing prisoners to think deeply about the meaning of their lives and their ability to become better people — Rabbi Scheiman visits every Jewish prisoner in the State of Illinois on a monthly basis.
