What is Lag B'Omer?
Lag BaOmer is a festive day on the Jewish calendar, celebrating the anniversary of the passing of the great sage and mystic Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, author of the Zohar. How will we celebrate Lag B'Omer this year?
Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie is bringing the Lag B’Omer celebration to you! Enjoy watching an uplifting procession from the safety of your own home. Cars and trucks decorated with positive Jewish messages of inclusion will drive through the streets of Skokie to promote togetherness and share inspiration.
How do we all participate?
Please open your windows and doors to welcome the procession as it drives down your street.
Please prepare your own homemade flags and banners, and wave them from the safety of your own home or front porch.
Please post photos and video on social media, with hashtag #LagBomerSkokie. Although we can’t congregate at an actual gathering, let’s connect virtually on Lag B'omer!
For safety purposes, please stay in your homes or on your porches. If the procession route is not visible from your home, you can park your car along the route, and please stay inside your car. We don’t want the Lag B’Omer procession to result in even the slightest breach of public safety.
