How do you feel about virtual vs. in-person?*

We are virtual only. I don’t feel comfortable having my teen attend anything in-person. The more in-person the better. My teen needs the normal socialization. We are cautiously doing some in-person, if we believe that it is safe and well planned. We are only doing in-person if it is outside.

As the cold weather gets closer, many outdoor events will be less realistic. How do you feel about indoor events? (Assuming appropriate safety rules.)*

Not for us, we are not doing any in-person indoor gatherings at all. We would allow our child to attend an in-person indoor gathering, only if there is no food at all. We would allow our child to attend an in-person indoor gathering, with food, provided that there is sufficient distancing to safely remove masks for the eating part, and refreshments are individually wrapped. (More about this in the next question.)

Traveling together in the Cteen van is big part of the Cteen culture. In normal times we do trips, Shabbatons, and outings big and small. Would you allow your child to be transported in a vehicle with people who are not in your household?*

Absolutely not. Yes, for sure. It depends on the details. (This will be explored in the next few questions.)

We outfitted the Cteen van with a special supplemental ventilation system, which circulates outside air through the van, while keeping rain out. Our calculations indicate are that air flow in the van while the ventilation system is running is as high as approximately 60 air exchanges per hour.

(For context, OSHA recommends 15 air exchanges per hour for surgical operating rooms, and only 3 of those exchanges must be outside air. Wikipedia.org says that classrooms get 3 - 4 exchanges per hour, residential bathrooms get 6-7 exchanges per hour, stores get 6 – 10 exchanges per hour. )
