Community-Wide Simchas Beis Hashoeivah |
The Skokie community will once again host a Simchat Beit Hashoeivah event on Sunday, Oct 16 from 12:45pm to 4pm at Skokie Valley Synagogue. There will be live music by Even Sh'siyah, singing, dancing, entertainment for children, and a special Yom Tov message from Rabbi Menachem Linzer. Parking available.
No charge to attend! All Skokie shuls are participating in this unity event.
We look forward to seeing you there!

We thank our Yom Kippur Helpers in the Kids Room: Daniella Adar, Tiffany Fedida, Julie Feinberg, Beth Herst, Shayna Kabiller, Rivkah Kaplan, Aliza Korrub, Chaya Phillips, Zeesy Posner, Rikel Raices, Yehudis Raices, Chani Richter, Yona Posner, Zeesy Posner.Thanks to our happy and very capable staff and volunteers, we served lunch to over 50 kids and entertained about 80 over the course of Yom Kippur.
We thank the page sign turners for RH and YK who accepted their assignments with a smile, and especially Daniel Lapson, Meir Lapson, Dr. Berel Polisky, and Yitzchok Zev Staiman who volunteered without waiting to be asked.
We thank Yehudah Leib Burgeman and Bob Pinhasik for helping to reset the Shul after Yom Kippur.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Brian Alexander on the loss of his father, obm. He is sitting Shiva in his home, 8436 Kedvale until after Mincha (at 4:00 p.m.) on Wedneday, Erev Yom Tov. May Hashem comfort him among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim.

We continue to say "L'Dovid.." (annotated Tehilas Hashem Sidur, p. 76, 115, 220, 267) in Shacharis and Mincha through Wednesday, Hoshana Raba.
We do not say Tachnun until the end of the month of Tishrei.
Earliest Tallis: on Monday it is 6:14 am, Wednesday it is 6:17 am *
*) The time we are posting is primarily with our weekday 6:30 minyan attendees in mind. If someone must daven earlier, please be aware that there are other opinions of how to calculate this.
In order to be permitted to prepare on Sukos for Shabbos, remember to make an Eruv Tavshillin on Erev Sukos (10/12) & on Hashana Raba (10/19). Instructions and what to say are on page 327 in the annotated Tehilas Hashem Sidur.
It is customary to eat a festive seudah meal on each day of Chol Hamoed. More about Chol Hamoed is explained here:
On Hoshana Raba we will have Hoshanos available at Shacharis for $4.50.
During the day on Hoshana Raba we have a Yomtovdike Seudah, dip the Hamotzi in honey, and eat Kreplach. You can read more here: http://www.skokiechabad.org/757453
