Timely Reminders

Earliest Tallis: on Mon: 6:23 am - Fri: 6:23 am
*) The time we are posting is primarily with our weekday 6:30 minyan attendees in mind. If someone must daven earlier, please be aware that there are other opinions of how to calculate this.

Shabbos, the Fifth of Teves, is celebrated by Chasidim as the day on which the federal courts recognized ownership of the Previous Rebbe's library by Agudas Chasidei Chabad and by extension rejected challenges to the authenticity of the Rebbe's leadership. The Rebbe declared that this day is an auspicious time especially to add to one's personal library of Torah books. To read more about Hey Teves, click here.

Monday, being it is a legal holiday, we will have Shacharis at 8:00 a.m. and Mincha/Maariv at 4:20 p.m. There will not be a 7:45 Maariv Minyan.

Next Thursday is Asara B'Teves (the Tenth of Teves). We fast on this day from dawn until nightfall, because this is the date on which the siege of Yerushalayim began, which lead eventually to the destruction of the First Bais Hamikdash. Selichos are said in davening, and there is Torah-reading at Shacharis and Mincha. It is permissible to get up early to eat until approximately 5:35 a.m. (if, when going to sleep the night before, one had in mind to do so). The fast ends at 5:10 p.m. Please note that we WILL have a Minyan for Mincha on Thursday beginning at 4:10 p.m. because of the fast. There will NOT be a 7:45 Maariv Minyan.
