This Sunday, January 8, 7: 30 p.m. , the cRc will host “Tradition and Compassion – Homosexuality and the Orthodox Community,” at Or Torah, 3800 Dempster St. , featuring Rabbi Judah Dardik of Oakland, CA, Rabbi Barry Freundel of Washington, DC, and Benzion Sorotzkin Psy.D.
Opening remarks from Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz, Av Beit Din of the Chicago Rabbinical Council. Admission is free.

New JLI Course: MONEY MATTERS |
MONEY MATTERS is an epic JLI course about Jewish Financial Ethics.Is Judaism socialist or capitalist? Who is responsible for preventing poverty? Is unionization a Jewish ideal? Must Walmart pay its workers a livable wage? Where would you draw the line? An ethical, Talmudic, and legal debate on the economic issues of our time.
This course meets on Thursdays or Sundays, starting the last week in January, with Rabbi Yochanan Posner. (MCLE credits available) More info is available on the website at www.SkokieChabad.org/JLI

Friday Night Shabbat Dinner: OF GOLEMS AND GENIUSES |
This year marks 500 years since the birth of Rabbi Yehudah Loew of Prague, known as the Maharal. One of the outstanding Jewish minds of the sixteenth century, he is best-known as the creator of the mysterious Golem. The Maharal’s approach to Talmud and Jewish philosophy are the foundation of modern Chassidus and his works are studied by Jews across the spectrum.
OF GOLEMS AND GENIUSES is the theme of our next Friday Night Shabbat Dinner, with great food and a fascinating presentation by Rabbi Mendel Moscowitz. Please join us for a Hilula dinner in honor of the Baba Sali, Rabbi Yisrael Abichatzeira. Featuring Rabbi Meir Chai Benhiyoun, Rabbi Baruch Hertz, Rabbi Yosef Posner, Rabbi Daniel Raccah and guest speaker Rabbi Asher Vaknin, as well as live music by Isaac Bitton of Raya Mehemna fame, Sunday, January 29 2012, 7:30 pm promptly (doors open at 7:15 pm) at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie, 4059 Dempster in Skokie.

Yud Shvat Farbrengen for Men |
In honor of Yud Shvat (the 10th of Shvat), date of the passing of the Previous Rebbe, R. Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn, and the ascendancy of the Rebbe, Rabbi M.M. Schneerson to the leadership of Chabad, there will be a farbrengen for men on Thursday evening, February 2.
