Just a few weeks ago on October 29, Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast. Afterwards, millions of people were left without power and thousands of homes were completely destroyed. 

We at the Jewish Youth House,would really like to offer some relief. Pleasel support our efforts! ,We are partnering with Rabbi Eli Goodman of Chabad of Long Beach, NY to assist folks to rebuild their community.

Many families have to start from the ground up, with everything from furniture and appliances to pots and dishes, as well as actually getting their own homes back to safe and livable conditions. The thing that would be most useful is to help people set up their homes, by providing them the means to replace some of the larger essentials that they need. It isn’t practical to make a collection of furniture or pots, but what we can do is send them with gift cards to shop at stores that would carry those items.

We are collecting gift cards to stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Toys R Us . It must be so hard to rebuild lives and homes from scratch, especially once you have a whole family! This as a way for us to connect with and “adopt” the community in Long Beach. 

If you prefer to give a donation, that is also fine, we will purchase the gift cards and send them along with the others.You can drop off the gift cards/donations at the offices of Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie/Jewish Youth House, at 4043 Dempster in Skokie, or donate here.
