On the last day of Pesach we celebrate the Moshiach Seudah, a special festive meal recognizing the imminent arrival of Moshiach. This uplifting gathering includes matzah, four cups of wine or grape juice, words of Torah, song, and inspiration, all focused on strengthening our hope and anticipation for the upcoming Geulah. Originally instituted by the Baal Shem Tov, it was developed by the Chabad Rebbeim. The custom of drinking four cups of wine at the Moshiach Seudah was introduced by Rabbi Sholom Dovber Schneersohn, the fifth Chabad Rebbe, known as the Rebbe Rashab, to parallel the four cups at the Seder. The Rebbe later emphasized and popularized the Moshiach Seudah, and today it is observed in Jewish communities around the world. At Skokie Chabad, the men's Moshiach Seudah is led by Rabbi Yosef Posner, and features niggunim led by Rabbi Raices, as well as words of inspiration for Moshiach from Rabbi Raices, and a guest appearance of Dr. Ira Weiss, the Rebbe's doctor, and other guest speakers. The women's Moshiach Seudah includes words of inspiration from the participants, including Mrs. Zeesy Posner, Mrs. Rivkie Raices, and Mrs. Yona Posner. Every participant is invited to share something. Mincha will be held early to allow ample time for the Moshiach Seudah before Maariv. Please come and bring your family to participate in this meaningful and joyful tradition as we conclude Passover together in a spirit of redemption. |
