This Motzai Shabbos - Movie Night for Women

All ladies are invited to a fun movie night this  Motzei Shabbat, November 19, 2011, 7:30 p.m. at the home of Rivkah (Wendy) Kaplan, 9041 Kedvale in Skokie. Get ready for a fun night with a yummy popcorn bar and other tasty snacks.

We will be watching “Match and Marry”, a documentary featuring some amusing tales, anecdotes, and the surprises of matchmaking and dating for marriage.

Shabbaton: Israel and International Law

Friday Night Shabbat dinner is back! Please join us on Friday night, December 2, 2011, for a delicious dinner & good conversation with friends. Professor Eugene Kontorovich will speak after dinner about “Disputing Occupation: Israel's Borders in International Law” Are the settlements illegal? What actually are the "1967 borders"? Is it true that International Law condemns Israel?

Professor Eugene Kontorovich teaches at Northwestern University School of Law, and is currently a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. Professor Kontorovich is an expert in constitutional and international law, and his writings appear in the Wall Street Journal, Jerusalem Post, and elsewhere. He speaks for the Israeli Defense Forces Military Advocate General officers, the American Jewish Committee, the Republican Jewish Committee, and to college student groups across the country.

Eugene is a brilliant and interesting individual, and we are sure you will enjoy his presentation.

Jewish Women’s Book Club

The next Jewish Women’s Book Club meeting with be December 12, 2011, at the home of Susan Rosenberg, 8343 Lowell. The book they are now reading is “The Blessing of a Broken Heart” by Sherri Mandell. You can purchase the book here, or read a few of her articles here. You can also request the book from Skokie Public Library via inter-library loan.

Jewish Youth House Report

JLI TEENS  
JLI Teens had another amazing class! We disscused how the Torah teaches us how to act if the only to save someone’s life is through stealing from another, and if and when we must repay the damages. This week we almost doubled our numbers!!! 
All high school students are invited to  join us this coming Monday as we discuss the Torah's perspective on suicide and self–harm.  
Monday evening 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. @The Mooz, 4049 Dempster.

This coming Wednesday there will NOT be "Pizza and Parsha" for the boys club. The girls club will meet as usual on Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. @ The Mooz. 

GIRLS KIDDUSH CONTINUES  
We will have Kiddush again this week after davening at the Mooz for all girls 6th grade and up.

Schedule Changes

Thursday, due to the legal holiday, Shacharis will be at 8:00 a.m.; there will be no Minyan for Mincha or Maariv.

The international convention of Shluchim will be next week and the Rabbis will be away. Note the changes in the class schedules,

Shul Family Album

Please send us your family photo, so we can get this shul album together. In the interest of strengthening our shul family and getting to know our shul friends better, we are renewing our plan to compile a comprehensive shul album with family photos, to help us all connect in a more tangible way. The album will be in a private corner on our website.
