Completion of Torah will begin at 3:30 at the home of Joey and Chani Richter, 8651 Kedvale Ave, Skokie.
Procession to install the new Torah at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie will begin at 4:30, followed by hakafot and dancing.
Dedication ceremony of newly reconstructed building of
Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie, 4059 Dempster St., Skokie
at 5:00, followed by Mincha.
Celebratory Dinner to commemorate these two joyous events, by reservation only; 6:00 p.m. at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie.

David and Sonia Richter
David Richter of blessed memory, commissioned the writing of a Sefer Torah in honor and memory of his dear wife, Sonia. Before the Torah was completed unfortunately, he, too, passed away. The Torah is now ready for a siyum, and will be installed at the newly renovated Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie by Joey and Chani Richter in loving memory of David and Sonia Richter.
David and Sonia Richter were Holocaust survivors. In 1951, they arrived in Chicago and, with assistance of the local chapter of H.I.A.S., they restarted their lives and raised a family. They began on the West Side of Chicago, moving to Albany Park, West Rogers Park, and eventually Skokie. They were true baalai tzedakah and always made themselves available for others. During the latter years of their lives, Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie welcomed them, making them feel comfortable as respected members of the shul.
Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie
Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie was founded in 1981 by Rabbi and Mrs. Yosef Posner. A group of ten to fifteen families purchased the current property in 1987. Since then, the crowd has grown, necessitating the recent expansion and remodeling effort.
Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie is more than just a neighborhood Shul. It is a resource for the Skokie community, providing nearly all Jewish needs. It is a home for our children and everyone else, regardless of background or affiliation. Through daily services, 30 weekly Torah classes, social events, holiday awareness projects, and Junior Gan Israel Day Camp, Lubavitch Chabad actively encourages and increases the level of Jewish awareness and observance throughout Skokie. There is a constant flurry of excitement, whether it is a creative holiday celebration, chavrusa learning, or Preschool. Our new building is sure to be a House of G‑d.
