Life He then granted to fish and to birds,
But a life without freedom was all He’d bestow.
Their instinct and need was what drove them along,
So fish and the birds could never do wrong.

Their species survive by the kind hand of G‑d,
While the length of their life is determined by fate,
And time has no meaning at the end of their day.

Their lives and their food are given by Grace
With no need for prayers or anything more.
All they can do is move with the light
Which directs all their movements through day and through night.
