BEWARE
Beware the men who peddle fears
Of many ways that we might die,
That whisper softly in our ears,
“You must learn to just obey
To keep the Vale of Tears away.”
The fears are always somewhat vague:
A virus or a germ unknown,
Enemies from distant lands
Whose motives we will never know:
In future times that are unseen,
They claim the sky and air we breathe
Will kill us through their lovely heat,
When all will drown in rising seas.
Beware the men who wish to rule
As they assume a noble pose,
Speaking into microphones,
Pretending that they really know,
Issuing each new decree,
Uttering absurdities.
They always prosper in the end,
Knowing when the fix is in,

Growing fatter off the land,
While others must eat carrion.
They try to lull us all to sleep
And never prove what they have said;
But instead consign to us the roles
Of simple fools and mindless sheep.

SHUN
But mostly shun that voice inside
That’s willing to sell out your soul
For steady pay and empty lives
Without a purpose or a goal.
We have the minds to understand,
If we just use them critically
To weigh the truth of what we see
Against dogmatic certainties,
Produced by men in darkened caves
Who only preach reflected thoughts
From others who’ve not seen the light
And cannot tell their left from right.
Basking in degrees they earned,
Sitting years upon their rears,
They mouth the words of third rate men,
While making up tendentious fears,
Without improving anything.

DISCERN
To learn the Truth of what would be:
To discern what is - you need know -
Perceive the things that really work,
In the schemes that are proposed.
Analyze the bottom lines of
Who it is who gets the gain
But don’t neglect to understand
Who it is who takes the pain.
Don’t forget that we’ve been made
In image of a loving G‑d:
Not as slaves to other men
To whom we need to scrape and bend,
But as a people free to choose,
With the lives that we have now,
What it is we wish to do
To make the future truly ours.
