Take two pieces made of steel.
Place them side by side
Like lovers in the night.
Grind their edges down until
The ins and outs of each fit tight.
Then fuse them where they kiss
With spark and flame until
Their essence has been mixed.
The bond thus formed is
Stronger than the parents’ strains.
And there they stay conjoined
For all eternity, or until corrosion,
Born of stress and time, has changed
