New Fettman Torah Dedication This Sunday– Fun Stuff for Kids

Don't miss all the excitement and fun this Sunday, August 11, as we welcome the new Fettman Torah into our shul!

The festivities begin at 10:30 am, with the writing of the last letters of the Torah in Seneca Park (just south of Dempster between Keystone and Karlov), and continue with crafts, refreshments, dancing and a procession into Shul.

Holiday Guides Arriving in Mailboxes all over Town

The Tishrei Holiday Guide has begun arriving into people’s mailboxes. This publication has lots of useful information about the upcoming High Holy Days, some thoughtful insights, lots of practical information, and the davening schedule too. If you have read it and taken everything in, please pass it on to someone who will use it.

Colel Chabad Calendars

The Colel Chabad Lu’ach is once again available with English translation. This “shul calendar” contains the Halachos and Minhagim related to davening, shul, Yomim Tovim, etc. according to Minhag Chabad. The Rebbe kept a Kolel Chabad Lu’ach on his desk, and encouraged everyone to have one, so that each day we can see the relevant Minhagim, changes in davening, etc.

If you would like one please let Rabbi Posner know. We have a limited supply, so act fast! The cost is $12 apiece.

Now is the Time for Sukkos Orders

Now is the time to place your Schach and/or Lulav & Esrog orders. To be sure that you have a kosher Lulav and Esrog to your liking, let us help you get exactly what you need and want. We check each Lulav and Esrog before it is sold to make sure it is fit to be used for the Mitzvah, and we will assemble it properly for you. All you have to do is come and pick it up.

Israeli Minyan on the Go

This week, Parshas Shoftim (August 10), the Israeli Minyan will meet at the Doubletree Hotel at Skokie Blvd. and Golf Rd. Shacharit will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Jewish Youth House

There will NOT be a girls Kiddush this Shabbos.

We extend a hearty Mazal tov to Rabbi Sholem Ber and Rivkie Raices on the engagement of their daughter Mushkie to Shmuel Posner (Yes, he is a relative) of Crown Heights. May they see much Yiddishe, Chassidishe Nachas!

Timely Reminders

During the month of Elul, which began this week, we say "L'Dovid" (Sidur p. 76, 115, 220, 267, Old Sidur p. 81) in Shacharis and Mincha, we blow Shofar each morning after davening, and recite three chapters of Tehillim per day, concluding on Yom Kippur. It is customary to check Tefillin and Mezuzas during the month of Elul, if this hasn't been done recently.
