Survey Results, More Input Requested

 

Last week we posed the question of whether to keep the daily Mincha minyan going through the short winter days. We have received a lot of positive feedback to that. We need a few more commitments in order to make a go of it, so if you can possibly attend Monday through Thursday when Mincha is as early as 4:10 p.m., even some of the time, it would be very helpful to know that. We also need to decide whether to keep the 7:45 Maariv only Minyan as well for those who can’t make the early minyan.

Please hit “Reply” right now and tell us if you can participate in the early Mincha Maariv, or if you are interested in starting up the Maariv-only Minyan at 7:45 p.m. Your input is important as we make these decisions.

 

New Mommy & Me Program

 

Announcing a new Mommy & Me group, which will meet for 6 Tuesday mornings, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, from 10/22/13 until 11/26/13.

For the mom: Relax and recharge with socializing, coffee, and friendly faces. For the kid: Snacks, crafts, music and movement, sensory activities, early socialization skills, stories, songs, and more!

The OTHER Healthcare Debates, Scholarships Available

 

Once again the Dr. Reading Dallal JLI Scholarship Fund is providing funds for full or partial scholarships to the upcoming JLI course. For more information contact Rabbi Yochanan Posner.

The upcoming six-week course, LIFE IN THE BALANCE, will prepare you for choices that you or a loved one may be called upon to make. It is also a fascinating exposure to little-discussed aspects of Judaism.

This new JLI course is taught by Rabbi Yochanan Posner, at three different times for your convenience.

6 Sundays beginning Oct 27th - Dec 15th, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, 6 Thursdays beginning Oct 31st - Dec 12th , from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, or from 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Shower This Sunday

 

There will be a Kallah Shower for Mushkie Raices this Sunday, 9 Marcheshvan (October 13) at 2:30 at Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie, 4059 Dempster St. All women are invited to attend. Event for Women This Week

 

All women are invited to "From Frazzled to Focused," an evening with Rivka Caroline, on Wednesday, October 16, 7:45 p.m. promptly at Bais Menachem, 2833 W. Howard, Chicago.

There will be a klezmer musical performance by Kol Shira and dancing led by Robin Mallor, as well as the presentation by Mrs. Caroline.

This program is sponsored by Mrs. Shira Malka Walder in honor of her mother, Mrs. Ethel Mallor OB”M whose 14th Yartzeit will be commemorated that evening. Refreshments will be served. Suggested donation: $5

Rivka Caroline is a Shlucha in Key Biscayne, Florida, author, time management consultant, the mother of seven, and able to find time for what matters.

 

New Book for Jewish Women’s Bookclub

 

The new book for bookclub is “Proof of Heaven”, by Dr. Eben Alexander. This book is a first-hand account of a neurosurgeon’s NDE (near-death experience).

We will be meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 8:00pm at the home of Susan Rosenberg.
